Abstract
1339048 Water soluble monoazo dyes FARBWERKE HOECHST AG 29 Nov 1971 [30 Nov 1970] 55208/71 Heading C4P The invention comprises water soluble monoazo dyes of formula where R and R<SP>1</SP> represent identical or different C 1 -C 4 alkyl or alkoxy groups, R<SP>11</SP> represents H or C 1 -C 4 alkyl; Z represents an acyl radical and X represents a group of formula where Y represents OH or an inorganic or organic radical which can be split off by an alkali. The dyes may be prepared by diazotization and coupling. The group may optionally be converted to the required -SO 2 CH 2 CH 2 -Y group by treatment with an inorganic or organic acid or derivative thereof. The group -SO 2 -CH = CH 2 may optionally be converted to groups of formula where M = alkali metal by treatment with an alkali metal thiosulphate or dialkyl amine. The dyes give red and violet shades on natural and synthetic fibrous materials containing nitrogen and on natural and regenerated cellulose fibrous materials.
