Abstract

1338577 Supplying and collecting bobbins LEESONA CORP 13 Oct 1970 [21 Oct 1969] 48508/70 Heading D1F An automatic spinning and winding system comprises a "self-tending" spinning apparatus operable to position empty bobbins, fill them with yarn and transfer them to handling apparatus which automatically delivers these bobbins to "self-tending" winding apparatus which receives and positions the bobbins, unwinds yarn therefrom and subsequently returns the empty bobbins to the handling apparatus for return to the spinning apparatus. The handling apparatus may be controlled in response to the demand for wound and/or empty bobbins, perhaps sorted as to type and transferred in equal batch, within the system and to this end includes bobbin storage equipment. In the system 14 shown, each spindle frame 16 in a spinning area 12 feeds its filled bobbins 20 (of a type which may differ from other types used in the system) by a chute 18 to a storage and conveyor bin 22 whence batches formed in a weighing hopper 26 are successively transferred to one of containers 30 on an overhead conveyor system 32 for delivery to a winding area 36. Each winding machine 38 receives by one of chutes 40 and orienting apparatus 82 according to type full bobbins 20 which are unwound at winding stations 42 and rewound into yarn packages (not shown). The resultant empty bobbins are first automatically delivered by conveyors (not shown) one for each type of bobbin, to hoppers 46 thence to a container 30 for return to area 12 whereat they are deposited in an appropriate one of strippers 48 which remove residual yarn. Empty and stripped bobbins then pass automatically to storage and conveyor bins 50 whence they are delivered by chute 52 to orienting and delivery hopper 54 for reuse by the associated spinning frame 16. The movements of the bobbins are so controlled as to maintain a predetermined minimum spacing therebetween. (For Figures see next page)
