Abstract

1337760 Gelatin coated resin films FUJI PHOTO FILM CO Ltd 29 Dec 1971 [28 Dec 1970] 60472/71 Heading B2E [Also in Division G2] A gelatin subbing layer is applied as an aqueous solution or a dispersion in an organic solvent to a stretched film of resin having a roughened surface and the coated resin film is dried at a temperature within the range of 40‹C below to 40‹C above the glass transition temperature of the resin. Roughening may be by abrasion, treatment with a solvent, or action of a foaming agent. The resin may be polystyrene, polyester e.g. polycarbonate, or polyolefin. The gelatin coating material may contain a solvent for the resin. The heat-treatment may be directly after coating or after cooling. The resin may contain white pigment such as TiO 2 , BaSO 4 , CaSO 4 , BaCO 3 , CaCO 3 , lithopone, alumina, white, or silica white. The gelatin layer may contain silver halides (chloride, bromide, chlorobromide or iodobromide), or a diazo compound or other photographic compounds.
