Abstract

1337441 Copolymers of S-alkenyl-2-aminoethyl thioethers BADISCHE ANILIN- & SODAFABRIK AG 19 April 1971 [1 April 1970] 25705/71 Heading C3P A copolymer is prepared by copolymerizing an olefinically unsaturated thioether of the formula in which R<SP>1</SP> denotes hydrogen or methyl, X denotes an N-morpholino radical, an unsubstituted amino group or an amino group substituted by one or more of the same or different alkyl, hydroxyalkyl, alkoxyalkyl, cycloalkyl, aryl, alkaryl, or alkoxyaryl radicals each of from 1 to 12 carbon atoms, and a copolymerizable olefinically unsaturated monomer containing a CH 2 =CH- group in the presence of a freeradical-generating initiator in bulk or in the presence of a solvent or diluent. In the examples 2 - (N - # - hydroxyethyl) - aminoethyl - S- vinyl - thioether, ethyl acrylate, 2 - (N - morpholino) - ethyl - S - vinylthioether, styrene, butadiene, n-butyl acrylate, #-N-diethylaminoethyl - S - vinyl thioether and 2 - ethylhexyl acrylate are copolymerized in the presence of ethanol, azo-diisobutyronitrile, n-lauryl sulphate, water and potassium persulphate.
