Abstract

1335659 Winches; platform elevators W C COOMBS 13 Nov 1970 [21 Nov 1969] 57189/69 Addition to 1223904 Headings B8B and B8H The powered winch of the Specification 1,223,904 is modified in that the axis of one drum 4 is angularly displaced relative to the axis of the other drum 2, which is square with the winch housing, thereby the grooves on one drum are axially displaced by one pitch thereof relative to the grooves of the other drum facilitating a straight line path for the cable 56 as it extends between drums. The cable leaving the drum 2 is picked out of the drum groove by a finger and is fed through a joggle housing 96 which deflects the departing cable from the last run of the cable extending between the two drums. The cable enters and leaves the winch through upper and lower slots 102 in a housing cover 66 which comprises two sections 66A, 66B hinged to the main structure 10 whereby the drums are completely accessible.
