1335298 Microbiological testing E A KLINGSTROM and S M JOHANSSON 26 Oct 1971 49792/71 Heading C6F [Also in Division B1] A device for testing bacteriological samples, including urine, with antibiotics consists of circular discs 5 made from a porous material e.g. filter paper, for impregnation with antibiotics inter-connected by arms 3 of the same material, and the connecting arms are impregnated at least within the area 7 adjacent the discs with a substance (wax, paraffin, resin or plastics material) which breaks the capillary properties of the porous material, thereby preventing the antibiotic from spreading into the arm and are provided with a graduated scale 9. The series of discs may be impregnated with various antibiotics forming a combination for determining a group of bacteria or type of infection. One of the discs may be left free from antibiotic. The device may alternatively be in the form of a strip or network.
