Abstract

1334570 Azo pigment compositions; coupling in presence of amines AZIENDE COLORI NAZIONALI AFFINI-ACNA SpA 16 Dec 1971 [19 Dec 1970] 58581/71 Headings C4A and C4P Organic pigment compositions of improved dispersibility comprise an azo-acyl-acetaryl pigment and 3-40% by wt. thereof of an amine of formula or wherein R is a substituted or unsubstituted, saturated or unsaturated C 7 -C 23 aliphatic radical, or a natural or modified resinic alcohol radical. The pigment may be treated with the amine at 70-200‹ C. for 3-24 hrs. This may be effected in a simple mixture, in a mixture in an anhydrous organic solvent or aqueous suspension, or, before coupling the pigment, by heating the amine with the coupling mass, or by heating the amine and acylacetaryl reagent in a water-miscible organic solvent and then coupling with the diazonium salt. In Example 6 a solution in ethanol of acetoacetanilide and a cyclic diamine having a C 11 saturated aliphatic side chain is coupled with tetrazotized 3,3<SP>1</SP>-dichlorobenzidine.
