Abstract

1334042 Ticket-issuing machine GODWIN WARREN ENG Ltd 6 Nov 1970 [16 Sept 1969] 45624/69 Heading G4T A ticket issuing mechanism includes a blade for severing ticket lengths from ticket material before advancement to a position where the user can touch the ticket only after it has been severed. In one embodiment, as shown, a roll of ticket strip carried on a drum 15 driven by a motor 11 via a connecting rod 13 is fed intermittently to a printing device 16 and a guillotine 17. The guillotine blade 19 is normally urged to an inoperative position by a spring (20) (Figs. 1, 6, not shown) and is rotatable about a pivot 22 to sever a ticket length when a solenoid 21 is energized. The leading edge of the ticket strip operates a mouth switch lever 23 but is not sufficiently advanced to permit access of the ticket through a mouth 18 by a user. The switch activates a circuit which, upon subsequent removal of a ticket, emits a signal to reset the mechanism and may also control a barrier, for example. After severance of the ticket, the solenoid 21 is de-energized and the spring (20) resets the blade 19. This resetting movement drives a rod (24), link piece (25) and gears (26, 27, 28) (Fig. 6, not shown) to rotate a pressure roller 30 which advances the ticket to a position in the mouth 18 accessible to the user. The roll of ticket strip may be replaced by a folded stack of ticket material.
