Abstract

1333942 Cutting apparatus G J DAVIS 30 June 1971 [1 July 1970] 31818/70 Heading B4B A device for trimming sheet material comprises a blade holder 12 mounted on a shaft 11 and supporting a plurality of blades 27, and means 13, 15 for locating the shaft in radial positions corresponding to the blade spacing, whereby, in use, the shaft may be rotated to remove one blade from engagement with a sheet being trimmed and to substitute another blade. The blades 27 are each mounted in supports 28 which are movable between operative and inoperative positions 29, 30. Four blade holders 12 are slidably mounted on a square-sectioned portion 25 of the shaft 11, the portion being graduated so that the spacing between the blades may be adjusted. In use, when the blades become blunt, a lever 15 is lifted out of engagement with a notch (32) Fig. 3 (not shown) provided in an index plate 13 and the shaft 11 rotated by means of a handle 16 until the lever locates in another notch thereby bringing new blades into the working position. The new blades engage the sheet material before the blunt blades are out of engagement thereby providing a continuity of cutting.
