1333515 Presser foot MEFINA SA 2 May 1972 [17 May 1971] 20251/72 Heading D1G A presser foot assembly comprises a part 4 for fixing to a presser bar 5 and a part 1 provided with the presser foot 2 and movable relatively to part 4 by an actuating member 11, 12, an elastic element 7 being provided between the actuator and the part 4. The foot 2 is provided with a cross bar (28, Fig. 3 not shown) engagable in a groove (29) in the portion 1 and retained therein by a spring (30). As shown the foot is a darning foot, but other feet such as a zig zag stitching foot (33) may be readily substituted. The portion 1 is tubular and slides vertically in a hole 3 in the fixed portion 7 under the action of crank pin 12 which engages a shoulder 13 to raise the foot or a slidable bush 6, surrounding spring 7, to lower it. The crank pin extends from an angle 10 rotatable manually by knob 11 or by a lever 19 engagable by the needle bar clamp 24 to press down on the work, as the needle descends, during darning, when the work is supported on a plate 23 which covers the feed dog. The axle and its crank are returned, to lift the presser foot, by return spring 14. Notches (27) are provided on part of the knob and are engagable by a spring 26, when the axle has been sufficiently rotated, to hold the axle and the presser foot in a chosen position. In a modification the crank pin is eliminated and a pin, extending from part 1 through a vertical slot in part 4, engages a selected one of notches on the slot edge.
