1333128 Fire-retardant coating compositions VSESOJUZNY NAUCHNO-ISSLEDOVATELSKY INSTITUT PROTIVOPOZHARNOI OBORONY MINISTERSTVA VNUTRENNIKH DEL SSSR 23 Dec 1971 59864/71 Heading C3R [Also in Division B2] A fire-retardant composition for a top coating comprises 6À3-13À0 p.b.w. of a butanolic melamine-formaldehyde resin solution, 7À3- 10À0 p.b.w. diammonium phosphate, 2.2-4À0 p.b.w. dicyandiamide, 15À0-17À5 p.b.w. dry urea-formaldehyde resin, 3À5-5À0 p.b.w. fibreglass, 15À0-20À0 p.b.w. butyl alcohol, 6À6- 11À6 p.b.w. of an aqueous ethanolic methylolated polyamide resin solution, 1À45-2À5 p.b.w. of an ethyl silicate, and 8À5-12À0 p.b.w. of melem. A fire-retardant composition for an undercoat comprises 13À5-20À5 p.b.w. of an aqueous urea-formaldehyde resin, 3À3-5À0 p.b.w. diammonium phosphate, 3À7-5À6 p.b.w. of dicyandiamide, 7À4-11À2 p.b.w. of dry ureaformaldehyde resin, 21À0-31À5 p.b.w. of ethyl alcohol, 21À0-31À5 p.b.w. of water, 15À0-22À0 p.b.w. of an aqueous ethanolic methylolated polyamide resin, 0À8-1À2 p.b.w. of an ethyl silicate and 14À0-21À0 p.b.w. of melem. The two coatings may be applied to substrates of metal or wood, to thicknesses of 0À8-1 mm. for the undercoat and 3-4 mm. in all.
