Abstract
1332839 Stator winding machine INDUSTRA PRODUCTS Inc 8 Sept 1971 [30 Sept 1970] 41890/71 Heading B3A A multistation automatic stator winding machine comprises a turntable 11 indexable between at least a stator loading station where cooling bulbs 39, 41, Fig. 4, are inserted and held by the turntable in the stator and a coil winding station. The stator may be unloaded at the loading station or at a different station. In a preferred embodiment the turntable has four stations 13, 15, 17, 19 and indexes through 180 degrees so that at the stations 13, 15 two stators are wound simultaneously by winding heads 21, 23 and two stators are loaded and unloaded at the stations 17, 19. The stations 17, 19 each have a bulb loading head 27, Fig. 4, which comprises four slotted rotatable members 35 to engage ribs 37 on the lower bulbs 41. The head is raised through the stator bore with the bulbs facing inwards and when in position the members are simultaneously rotated through 180 degrees. The turntable is provided with radially slidable hooks 43, Fig. 3, and retainers 45 which are actuated by rotatable annular rings 47, 59 and pin and slot connections 51, 53, 55, 57. The head 27 is rotated slightly to bring the notches 63, 65, Fig. 4, on the bulbs into the hooks where they are held by the retainers. The turntable is a double-turntable and has hooks and retainers on the upper and lower plates. The separation of the plates is adjustably for different size stators by a double threaded rod (66), Fig. 5 (not shown), which is screwed into the top plate and a fixed base (72) of the machine. The front stations 17, 19 may have a stator raising assembly to allow easy removal of the stator.
