Abstract
1332512 Sights for firearms N I A RUDER 7 Oct 1970 [13 Oct 1969] 47595/70 Heading F3C A sighting device for a firearm comprises a housing 14 and means 10 for supporting the housing 14. The housing 14 is provided with a light unit 17 associated with an apertured member 18 so as to produce a source of a light and a convergent lens 25 for forming, at infinity, a virtual image of the light source. The means for supporting the housing comprises a tube having two adjustable housing supports 29 disposed perpendicularly to each other and a third resilient support (Fig. 2, not shown). Thehousing 14 is mounted in the tube 10 at the objective end thereof by a part spherical mounting 15, 22. The tube 10 has at its end which partly surrounds the light unit a light permeable dome 13. The light unit 17 comprises an element which, from ambient light, produces light having a limited range of wavelengths. A nuclear light source may be incorporated in the housing either surrounding the aperture (Fig. 5, not shown) or mounted in a hood and the light therefrom being reflected by the element behind the aperture (Fig. 6, not shown).
