Abstract

133,241. Craig, A. M. Feb. 5, 1919 Ordnance design; machine guns. - Consists in preventing the tendency of a gun-muzzle to jump upwards on discharge by providing a lip projecting forwardly from and parallel to the muzzle. The lip, which is preferably curved and of greater radius than the bore. may be integral with the barrel as shown at 12a, or it may be carried on a ring adapted to be screwed to the gun-muzzle. The lip is preferably arranged on the underside of the barrel, but in the detachable type it may be screwed slightly to the right or left to counteract any lateral movement of the muzzle on discharge. A form of the invention is described in which a lip is formed on a flashdiminishing tube screwed to the gun-muzzle. The invention is stated to be applicable to all types of firearms.
