1331524 Desulphurizing coke CONTINENTAL OIL CO 4 Aug 1971 36712/71 Addition to 1235086 Heading C5E A process for desulphurizing green petroleum coke comprises impregnating it with an aqueous solution of an alkali metal carbonate, preferably Na 2 CO 3 , and treating the mixture with H 2 at an elevated temperature, e.g. in the range 1000‹ to 1600‹ F., for at least 2 hours, e.g. in a fluidized bed. The Na 2 CO 3 should comprise from 1 to 20% b.w. based on the weight of the coke.
