Abstract
1331473 Reconstituted polyvinyl chloride foams GENERAL FOAM PRODUCTS Ltd 20 April 1971 [30 April 1970] 20974/70 Headings C3C and C3R Reconstituted polyvinyl chloride foam is made by comminuting polyvinyl chloride foam to a particle size of 3-15 mm. average diameter, mixing the particles with a polymethane precursor bonding agent containing or derived from a methylene polyisocyanate, moulding the resultant mass and causing the bonding agent to cure. The bonding agent may be made by reacting 4, 41-diphenylmethane diisocyanate or a homologue thereof, triphenylmethane tri-isocyanate or a polymethylene polyphenylisocyanate with at least one organic polyol of mean mol wt. 1,000-8,000 in the presence of an amine or organo-tin catalyst: In the example the polyol used was a polyether resin and the bonding agent also contained methylene chloride, an organic blue pigment and trixylenyl phosphate.
