Abstract

1329961 Butyl rubber solution or dispersion PHILIP PARRINDER (SALES) Ltd 17 July 1970 [18 April 1969] 20024/69 Heading C3P [Also in Division D1] A textile treating composition comprises a solution or dispersion in a suitable liquid vehicle of a hydrocarbon wax and minor proportions of butyl rubber and a water-repellent aluminium soap both proportions being based on the weight of the hydrocarbon wax. The soap may be aluminium stearate or oxystearate. The composition may contain a minor porportion of butyl titanate which enhances the heat resistance of the coating. The butyl rubber solution is generally of about 10% w/w strength and it is preferred to incorporate the paraffin wax in an amount of from 3 to 30 times by weight of the amount of rubber by weight. A suitable liquid vehicle is perchloroethylene. An exemplified composition also contains colloidal silica and dioctyl sebacate.
