Abstract

1329758 Endless conveyers GOODYEAR TIRE & RUBBER CO 19 April 1971 [28 April 1970] 25714/71 Heading B8A In a passenger walkway means are provided for warning the passenger that he is approaching the end of said walkway. In the Figure shown the walkway is formed by a transversely rigid endless belt 2 supported over its main portion 19 by edge rollers 27, thereby providing a smooth ride for the passengers and is supported at its end region 20 by a series of rollers 29 extending across the conveyer to induce a vibratory motion to the conveyer and thereby warn the passengers of the approaching end of the conveyer. In an alternative embodiment, Fig. 5 (not shown), the belt (2<SP>1</SP>) is transversely flexible and is supported in its main region (19<SP>1</SP>) by a plurality of closely spaced rollers (30) extending across the full width of the conveyer. The said rollers (30) at the end of the conveyer being spaced apart to a greater extent to induce a vibration of a different frequency to said belt (2<SP>1</SP>). In a further embodiment Fig. 6 (not shown) the walkway is formed by a plurality of pivotally interconnected carriages (33) each with wheels (34) to engage a support track (36). The support track (36) being provided with ridges (37) adjacent the end of the walkway to induce a vibratory motion to said carriages.
