Abstract

1329071 Bowl type earth scrapers CATERPILLAR TRACTOR CO 19 Jan 1971 [9 Feb 1970] 2524/71 Heading E1F A tractor and a wheeled scraper bowl are connected by a draft frame whose spreader tube, supporting arms pivoted to the bowl, has a gimbal connection with two bowl lift jacks each connection comprising a spindle extending through the tube and supported for rocking movement about an axis parallel to the longitudinal scraper bowl axis. The connection shown has spindle 34 supported for rocking movement in bearings 36, 38 in tube 40 extending through spreader tube 22 and has yoke 62 on whose two journals 64 are pivoted brackets 66 attached to the base of hydraulic jack cylinder 20. Piston rod 76 has a ball and socket connection 80 with bowl beam 84. The rocking of shaft 34 is limited by the engagement of a flat on shaft end plate 44 with lug 48. Reinforcing webs 54, 56 are welded to tubes 22, 40.
