1328958 Foamed resin products BAYER AG 19 April 1971 [15 April 1970] 26160/71 Heading B5A Heavy duty foam resin products, e.g. polyurethane, are produced by applying a gel coat layer to the wall of an "auxiliary" mould, embedding therein a marginal zone reinforcement of fibrous wire fabric, wire grid, metal skeleton or synthetic resin skeleton, hardening the gel coat layer and removing the resulting preform from the mould, inserting it into a mould resistant to foaming pressures and of the same contour as the "auxiliary" mould and applying and foaming a foamable mixture therein. The gel coat layer may be brushed or sprayed on and may be a polyester, epoxide resin, polyvinyl chloride, polycarbonate or polyurethane. The reinforcement may be a glass fibre fabric with a top layer of fibre fleece, fabrics of synthetic fibres or wires, wire fabric, wire grid, textiles, or metal or synthetic resin skeletons, &c. Other parts may be fixed in the preform before foaming. The "auxiliary" moulds may be produced from glass fibre reinforced epoxy resin applied to a plaster cast taken of the "foaming" mould. The foam resin products may be automobile bodies, aircraft frames or hulls or frames of ships and boats.
