1328500 Cleaning liquid dispensing apparatus J F EARDLEY Ltd 14 Jan 1971 [16 Oct 1969] 50961/69 Headings F2N and N2A In a method and apparatus for cleaning liquid, e.g. beer, dispense systems, the bar outlets 28, 30, Fig. 2 are connected by pipe 32 and the inlet pipes 10, 12 disconnected from the keg 20 and manifold 18, pipe 10 connected to a motorized pump 42 and pipe 12 to a drain 52, Fig. 3 or retain pipe 53. The pump is mounted in a frame 36, having an upper section containing a tank 38 of water e.g. connected to main via a ball cock, a tank of cleansing or sterilizing liquid and a timing device 55 comprising motor 54 driving cams 58, 60 operating switches 62, 64 and relays controlling solenoid valves 48, 50 determining whether the pump forces water or cleaning liquid through the system. The pump flushes the system with water first and passes it to drain, the timer then closing valve 48 and opening valve 50 to allow cleaning fluid to be pumped through the system and returned to the cleaning liquid tank, and finally the timer closes valve 50 and reopens valve 48 to allow rinsing water to be pumped through the system to drain. The timer and relay 66 open the bar outlet valves 14, 16 during the cleaning process. If the system has meters e.g. of the diaphragm type Fig. 5 (not shown) in the inlet pipes 10, 12, relay 66 opens both meters and outlets for cleaning liquid to pass through the meter and valves in parallel.
