Abstract

1328494 Anhydrous ferrous fumarate V LASO-MARTINEZ 25 Nov 1970 [28 Aug 1969] 42888/69 Heading C2C Anhydrous ferrous fumarate is prepared by reacting a water-soluble ferrous salt with a water-soluble fumaric acid salt at elevated temperature in the presence of an amino acid (MW less than 120). Glycine, alanine or threonine may be used and sodium, potassium or ammonium fumarate or sodium hydrogen fumarate may be the soluble salt. The product has the salt complexed or coated with the amino acid and may be used as a haematinic, in the form of a tablet or capsule for oral dosage and may include conventional fillers, binders and lubricants.
