Abstract

1328482 Sealable feeding nipples ABBOTT LABORATORIES 5 Jan 1971 [8 Jan 1970] 524/71 Heading A5X A feeding nipple assembly comprises a nipple 56 having an internal recess 55 carrying a disc 50 which, when the assembly is sealed by a frangible shroud 62, separates the nipple interior from the bottle interior, Fig. 1. When the shroud is removed, Fig. 2, the nipple extends to unseal the disc to allow liquid to flow through radial grooves 53 in the disc and hence through the recess 55 into the nipple interior. Separation of the disc from the, recess is aided by an annular rib 54. A vent opening 57 is also uncovered by removing the shroud to allow ingress of air, the opening is shielded by a lip 61 to prevent liquid escaping therethrough. The shroud is provided with a frangible connection 64 to its lower portion 63 which seats on a bead 51 or is alternatively threadably engaged with the bottle.
