Abstract
1327872 X-ray apparatus COMPAGNIE GENERALE DE RADIOLOGIE 30 April 1971 [30 April 1970] 12536/71 Heading H5R An X-ray tube in a housing 24 is mounted at the upper end of a longitudinally extendable column 6 which is rotatable about a horizontal shaft at its lower end, simultaneous rotation and extension of the column during operation being controlled by a pair of electric motors and an electronic analogue circuit, such that the motion of the X-ray source is maintained substantially rectilinear. As described, the arrangement is employed in tomographic apparatus having a cassette carriage 26 movable along rails longitudinally of a table surface 2. The column 6 is rotated by a motor 11, worm 10, and gear 9, a potentiometer 12 supplying a signal indicative of the inclination of the column to the analogue circuit, while extension of the column is effected by a motor 15, worm and gear 18 and 19, and chain and gear 16 and 21, the chain being secured to a finger 17 integral with an upper movable portion of the column, a second potentiometer providing a signal indicative of the column extension. Correlated movement of the X-ray tube and the cassette carriage 26 is produced by the rod 31, which is engaged in a slide 32 which pivots about a shaft in the carriage 26, and in a slide 30 which pivots about a shaft 29 the vertical position of which is adjustable in the. member 28 to permit radiography of a chosen plane in the object under examination. Circuitry for producing the desired relationship between the operation of the two motors 11 and 15 is described in outline (Figs. 3 and 4, not shown).
