Abstract

1327661 Polydiorgano-siloxane emulsions IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd 21 April 1971 [6 May 1971] 13475/71 Heading C3T [Also in Division D1] An aqueous emulsion comprises 2-20% wt. of a linear polydiorganosiloxane of viscosity 100-30,000 cP. at 25‹ C., 0À05-5À0% wt. of at least one emulsifying agent, 2À5-10% wt. of at least one thickening agent which is a fatty alcohol-ethylene oxide condensate such as oleyl/cetyl alcohol combined with ethylene oxide in the mole ratio 1 : 2 to 1 : 5, and optionally 0À05-0À15% wt. of a rust inhibitor e.g. sodium nitrite, the viscosity of the emulsion being 20-200 cP. at 25‹ C. Preferably all of the organo groups in the siloxane are methyl groups. Suitable emulsifying agents include alkylphenolethylene oxide condensates containing 6-15 moles of combined ethylene oxide per mole of phenol and sodium octylphenoxyalkyl sulphates. Uses.-Treating textiles.
