Abstract

1325838 Dental lamp GTE SYLVANIA Inc 5 May 1972 [10 May 1971] 21163/72 Heading F4R A dental lamp comprises a dichroic reflector 18 which reflects blue light and transmits IR and a filter 20 which transmits blue light and reflects backwards yellow light and IR. A dichroic mirror 23 is provided in the housing 5 of the lamp as is a push-button switch 17. The particular wavelengths that are transmitted and reflected by the mirror 18 and filter 20 are specified, as are the materials making up the dichroic layers. The lamp is used to disclose deposits of plaque and calculus on teeth, the teeth having been first treated with sodium fluorescein thus exhibiting yellow fluorescence in the lamp light.
