Abstract

1325798 Substituted ara-cytidines UPJOHN CO 17 Aug 1971 [24 Sept 1970] 53277/72 Divided out of 1325797 Heading C2C [Also in Division A5] Novel ara-cytidines of the general formula wherein X- is the conjugate base of a strong acid and R is a straight or branched chain aliphatic or alicyclic radical containing 1 to 20 carbon atoms, a monocyclic or bicyclic aromatic radical containing 6 to 20 carbon atoms, a monocyclic heterocyclic radical containing 4 to 10 carbon atoms, an araliphatic radical containing 7 to 12 carbon atoms, cage-type hydrocarbon radicals containing from 7 to 20 carbon atoms (optionally substituted by hydroxy, carboxy, nitro, mercapto and C 1-20 alkoxy) are prepared by acylating at the 5<SP>1</SP>-O-position ara-cytidines of the general formula and optionally including the further step of hydrolysing the 2,2<SP>1</SP>-anhydro bond in the resulting compound of Formula I to form aracytidines of general formula
