Abstract
1325752 Optical apparatus JUNGNER INSTRUMENT A B 30 Oct 1970 51846/70 Heading G2J A field glass for direct optical viewing and for observation of a transformed heat image comprises objective 1, 2, eyepiece 4, and first optical means including two transparent wedges 3, 12 with their oblique faces together, the joint surface 16 being partially reflecting, this surface being disposed substantially in the image plane of the objective, and having a film comprising one or more layers, which deforms on reception of infrared, the film being illuminated by a schlieren optical system placed so that the beam path from a lamp 5 in the field glass, after reflection in the joint surface, coincides with the optical axis of the field glass. Wedge 12 is made of 1R-transparent material e.g. sodium aluminate. The lamp 5 may be controlled by a photo-cell so that, as the surroundings get darker, the light progressively comes on to change over from optical to transformed heat viewing. The first optical means may alternatively be placed at 17 in the image plane of the first part of the objective.
