Abstract

1325394 Polysiloxane lubricant compositions DOW CORNING CORP 4 Nov 1971 [17 Dec 1970] 51273/71 Headings C3S and C3T [Also in Division C5] A lubricant composition consists of (a) 97-99À5 wt. per cent of a polysiloxane of viscosity 5-500 cS/25‹ C. and of formula R 3 SiO[(CH 3 ) R<SP>1</SP>SiO] n SiR 3 wherein R is a C 1-18 alkyl radical, a phenyl radical or an alkaryl radical of no more than 10 C atoms, at least one R being CH 3 , R<SP>1</SP> is a C 6-18 alkyl radical and n is 1-20, and (b) 0À1-3 wt per cent of dodecenylsuccinic anhydride. In the Examples the polysiloxanes used are of the formula wherein n is 4, 1-4, or 3-10; they are prepared by addition of octene-1 to the corresponding hydrogen methyl siloxanes i.p.o. H 2 PtCl 6 in isopropanol.
