Abstract

1325293 Ornamenting H TAKENAKA 6 May 1971 13399/71 Heading B6G [Also in Division D1] Sequin-patterned cloth is produced by arranging a plurality of sequins in a predetermined pattern on a support plate and bonding the sequins to a piece of cloth using heat and pressure such that the material of the sequins softens and adheres to the cloth. The sequins may be retained on the support plate by an adhesive and arranged theron by bringing the adhesive coated surface into contact with sequins arranged in said pattern on a perforated arrangement plate the holes in which conform to the pattern. The sequins are scattered over the perforated plate and retained in positions overlying the holes by an aspirator sucking air through the holes, surplus sequins being removed prior to contacting with the support plate and the aspirator then rendered inoperative to allow the support plate and sequins adhered thereto to be removed. The sequins may be bonded to the cloth using a press, the jaws of which are coated with release material, stops being placed between the jaws to limit the amount of heat and pressure. The sequins on the cloth may finally be gilded by covering with metal leaf or vinyl film and applying heat and pressure.
