1323440 Preparation of aminophenyl alkyl ethers FARBWERKE HOECHST AG 20 Nov 1970 [27 Nov 1969] 55322/70 Heading C2C Compounds of formula in which Y represents a hydrogen atom or a (C 1-4 ) alkyl, X represents a (C 1-4 ) alkyl and n and z each represents an integer from 1 to 3, the sum of n and z being not more than 5, are prepared by catalytic hydrogenation of a compound of formula in which X, Y, n and z are as defined above at a temperature of from 30 to 130‹ C. and at a pressure of from 1 to 50 atmospheres gauge in an inert hydrocarbon solvent having dielectric constant of not more than 3 which solvent is capable of dissolving both the starting compound and the product.
