Abstract
1323210 Bis-(chlorobenzothiazolyl) compounds AQUITAINE TOTAL ORGANICO 6 Aug 1971 [7 Aug 1970] 37073/71 Heading C2C [Also in Division C3] The invention comprises heterocyclic compounds having either of the formulµ wherein J is a single covalent bond joining the two heterocyclic ring systems, a bivalent non- metallic element or a bivalent group. The compounds may be prepared by 1: (a) dirhodanizing a phenylene diamine; (b) cyclizing to form a bi-(2-aminothiazolic) derivative; (c) diazotizing and decomposing to form the desired compound; 2 (a) converting a bis-(o-ohloronitro) aromatic compound into bis-(o-aminothiophenate); (b) converting this to a bis-aminoxanthate; (c) cyclizing in acid medium to a bimercaptan; (d) chlorinating; 3 (a) as 1 (a); (b) converting the product to bis-(o-aminothiophenate); (c) as 2 steps (b)-(d); 4 (a) as 1 stages (a) and (b); (b) converting the product to bis-(o-aminothiophenate); (c) continuing as method 2 stages (b)-(d). Specified bivalent non-metallic elements J are O, S, Se, and groups J specified are where R 1 and R 2 are H, aliphatic, alicyclic or aromatic hydrocarbon radicals. Compounds specified are 6,6<SP>1</SP>-bi-(2-chlorobenzothiazolyl), 6,6<SP>1</SP> - bi - (2 - chlorobenzothiazolyl) sulphone, 6,6<SP>1</SP> - bi - (2 - chlorobenzothiazolyl) ether, 5,5<SP>1</SP> - bi - (2 - chlorobenzothiazolyl) sulphone, and 5,5<SP>1</SP> - bi - 2 - chlorebenzothiazolyl) ketone. Also disclosed is the condensation of 6,6<SP>1</SP>-bi-(2- chlorobenzothiazolyl) sulphone with phenol to form 6,6<SP>1</SP> - bi - (2 - phenyloxybenzothiazolyl)- sulphone.
