1323186 Mowers; hedge cutters E THIEL 2 March 1972 [29 March 1971] 8059/71 Headings A1E and A1F [Also in Division B4] A device for shearing e.g. sheep, or for cutting hedge or grass, comprises a rotatable cutter 42, 47 and a non-rotatable comb 32, 14 mounted in a head 1, the rotatable cutter being urged by springs 10 into contact with the comb which is freely supported on a plate 15 thereby enabling the comb to adjust itself to the face of the cutter. The springs 10 act on pins 9 which are secured to a pressure plate 7 in contact with the teeth 47 of the rotatable cutter; the spring pressure is adjustable by means of a rotatable knob 12. The cutter is rotated via a worm-and-wheel drive 3, 4, 5 and the teeth 47 are formed on segments secured to a disc 42; different shapes of teeth are disclosed Figs. 10, 12, 14 (not shown). The comb is provided with teeth 14 formed on segments secured to a disc 32, holes being formed therein for loosely fitting over pins 16 mounted on the plate 15. In order to provide access to the cutter, the plate is pivotally mounted on a pivot 19, 21 and normally locked in the closed position shown in Fig. 2 by a pin 27, mounted on a shaft 25, 26 and engageable with a slot 24 in a bar 23 and which the plate is secured. In a modification, the plate 15 may be pivoted about an axis perpendicular to the axis of the cutter Fig. 5, (not shown).
