Abstract

1322999 Crates STAMICARBON NV 9 Aug 1971 [3 Sept 1970] 37322/71 Addition to 1314056 Heading B8P To facilitate automatic filling and emptying, a crate according to the Specification 1,314,065 is modified by having an odd number of rows of compartments for bottles, the or each alternate row being divided in two, so that the bottles in each division are staggered a distance e relative to those in adjoining rows but with the bottles of one division staggered in one direction relative to those in adjoining rows and the bottles of the other division staggered in the opposite direction. The stagger distance e, has a value of less than 0À5 d, where d is the centreto-centre distance between successive bottles in a row. In the embodiment shown the centre row is so arranged to leave a central space 4 of width 2e. The partitions 1 adjacent the space 4 may be upwardly extended slightly to provide a handle (5, Fig. 4) which is located below the upper crate edge 8 to permit stacking on pallets (Fig. 6). Rings 3 are situated on the underside of a grating 2 forming the crate bottom to assist stacking. In a second embodiment (Fig. 5) the outer rows are arranged in halves and handles may be provided at the side walls (see 6, 7, Fig. 5).
