Abstract

1322977 Distributing vapour/liquid mixtures NIPPON PETROLEUM REFINING CO 22 July 1970 [22 July 1969] 35623/70 Heading B1F [Also in Division F4] A device for distributing the flow of a vapour-liquid mixture into a number of component flows uniformly with respect to rate of flow and percentage composition comprises an inlet header 1 for the mixture, a plurality of branch pipes 8, 8' &c extending from different locations along the inlet header, at least a portion of each branch pipe being located above the inlet header, and a common vapour conduit pipe 4 to which each branch pipe is connected through an offshoot 10, 10' &c, the vapour conduit pipe being located at a higher level than the inlet heads and the branch pipes. In the embodiment shown, the branch pipes also have offshoots 11, 11' &c to a common liquid conduit pipe 7, and each branch pipe 8, 8' is connected through a "treatment apparatus" 5 to a common outlet header 6. Each apparatus 5 may be a heater, cooler, heat exchanger or reactor.
