Abstract

1322881 Wet oxidation of waste liquor STERLING DRUG Inc 6 Jan 1972 [18 Jan 1971] 674/72 Heading C1C In a process for the wet oxidation of waste liquor (e.g. raw liquor or sludge) the liquor is preheated in heat exchanger 14 and oxidized in the reactor, gases are separated in separator 20, the oxidized liquor is passed to flash tank 26 and the steam generated therein is used to provide at least part of the heat requirements of exchanger 14. The flash temperature of the steam is controlled by varying the pressure in tank 26; the temperature of the preheated liquor is controlled by controlling the flow of steam through valve 28 by temperature sensor 34. Air may be mixed with the liquor prior to or after preheating. Auxiliary steam from a boiler may be used in exchanger 14. The oxidized liquor from flash tank 26, or steam flashed therefrom may be used for additional preheating of the liquor.
