Abstract

1322440 Rotary brushes W GOULD and C GOULD 6 Dec 1971 [4 Dec 1970] 56439/71 Heading A4K In a brush having a helically wound brush section strip 20, at least one end of the strip is attached to the brush core 14 by a connector 30 which permits rotation of the strip relative to the core in one direction and prevents rotation of the strip relative to the core in the other direction. The connector 30 has a bore 32 through which an arm 48 fixedly connected to one end of the brush strip, passes, movement of the arm 48 to the left as shown being permitted and to the right prevented by a spring biased plate 34. In a second embodiment Figs. 5-8 (not shown) the brush strip (62) passes directly through a channel (68) formed in the connector (64) and movement of the strip is controlled by a spring biased plate 70. In a third embodiment Fig.9, (not shown) the end of the helical sweeper unit is connected to the cylindrical core by a spring (92) which is mounted in tension and contracts while still maintaining tension during the full tightening of the sweeper unit.
