Abstract

1321764 Knitting-machine E MAYER [trading as MAYER & CIE] 15 Sept 1971 [5 Oct 1970] 42929/71 Heading D1C A multi-system circular machine with a revolving needle cylinder, has for each system a set 17 of pattern slides and a common electromagnetic preselecting apparatus 34 revolving with the cylinder. The pattern slides 49 are mounted on the cam ring 11 and urged outwards by springs 50. The slides are maintained in set positions by a locking bar 55 engaging recesses 53, 54. The bar is released by a revolving cam 35 just prior to selection, and relocks thereafter. The preselecting apparatus comprises a bank of preselection slides 42 moved between projected and retracted positions by pins 45 carried by a slide 46 and engaging a cam slot 44. The slides 46 are moved by electromagnets 47. Electrical signals for energising the magnets are derived from a series of rings 37 set in an insulated revolving disc 36. Signals from a pattern device are supplied to the rings by spring urged pins 39. The pattern device may comprise a plug board having as many levels as there are colours in the pattern, to which voltage is applied by a stopping counter. Alternatively the device may comprise a punched tape, or electric-optically scanned point paper.
