Abstract

1321583 Treating filaments made of copolymers STAMICARBON NV 6 Jan 1971 [10 Jan 1970] 681/71 Heading D1P [Also in Division C3] Filaments made of copolymers containing -CO-(CH 2 ) 2 -S-(CH 2 ) 3 -NH- units and -CO- alkylene -NH) units (see Division C3) are subjected to oxidative conditions to convert at least some of the surface S atoms to sulphoxide groups which render the filament resistant to electrostatic charge and capable of curling. The oxidative conditions may be exposive to oxygen at elevated temperature but are preferably provided by aqueous hydrogen peroxide at below 30‹C.
