Abstract

1320419 Tobacco-smoke filter BRITISHAMERICAN TOBACCO CO Ltd 26 Aug 1971 [7 Oct 1970] 47708/70 Heading A2C A multicomponent filter comprises at least two sections of which at least one section is composed of a fibrous or filamentary material and at least one other section is composed of an open-cell type foamed, extruded, polyethylene or nylon material. In the examples, dual filters consisting of a fibrous cellulose acetate section and a second section of foamed polyethylene or foamed nylon are described. Triple filters, comprising either granulated activated carbon or activated carbon dispersed on cellulose acetate fibre in a centre section interposed between a foamed polyethylene section and a cellulose acetate fibre section, are also exemplified. The use of smoke filter paper for the fibrous section is also mentioned.
