1318828 Production of zeaxanthin F HOFFMANN-LA ROCHE & CO AG 28 July 1971 [31 July 1970] 35407/71 Heading C2V Zeaxanthin is obtained by cultivating in aqueous nutrient solutions containing sources of assimilable carbon and nitrogen, microorganisms of the strains CBS 519/67 or CBS 523/67 of the genus Flavobacter or subcultures of these strains obtained by selection or mutation. After fermentation is complete the cell mass may be removed and the zeaxanthin separated, if desired, by extraction with a solvent and purified by adsorption and isolated by elution. Examples are given.
