Abstract
1318550 Door control system GENERAL SIGNAL CORP 17 Sept 1970 [17 Sept 1969] 44439/70 Heading E2M An electrical system for controlling e.g. a tube train door 10 comprises a designating means 15 for giving "open" and "close" signals to a switch means 14; a vehicle function monitor 13 having speed and brake detectors 18, 17 which prevents, via the switch 14, a door opening unless the conditions that (a) the brakes are applied at least at a minimum pressure and (b) the train is travelling below a minimum speed are met; and a first check 16 which correlates the speed and brake detectors output with that from a train drive motor controller 20 and, if the motor is working then, even if the said conditions are met, the check 16 issues an override signal which prevents the doors opening; and a second check 21 which correlates the speed and brake detector output with the designating means 15 so that, if the train has been moving or the brakes have been released since the means 15 was last moved from a "close" to an "open" position, then the check 21 issues an override signal which prevents the doors from opening. Fig. 2 shows the circuits with the train stopped and a door open. The designating means 15 includes a switch 22 for left or right opening doors energising a relay 31: the speed and brake detectors energise relays 37 and 26 respectively. The first check 16 comprises a relay 50 which, whilst the drive motor 24, and hence the train, is stopped, is energised through line 52 from the controller 20. When the drive motor starts, energisation of the relay 50 is switched from line 52 to line 51, the relay being held by a slow release circuit 54, 55 until contacts 38, 44 (controlled by relays 37, 26) in line 51 are closed: if the contacts do not close in a set time, relay 50 drops out preventing the doors being opened. A reset button 60 is provided. The second check 21 comprises a relay 61 energised through contacts 45, 39 (controlled by relays 26, 37) whilst the train is stopped; and energised through contact 32 (controlled by relay 31) when the doors are closed and the train is in motion; a slow release circuit 67, 68 holding the relay during the changeover. If the switch 22 is left in an "open" position (L or R) when the train is moving, contact 32 remains open and relay 61 "drops out" after a set time and the doors cannot be opened: the relay may be reset by moving the switch 22 to the closed (CL) position. A circuit bypassing relays 26, 37, 50 and 61 may be included.
