Abstract
1317828 Electro-photographic processes CANON K K 29 May 1970 [4 June 1969] 26122/70 Heading G2H Excess developer liquid is removed from an electrostatic latent image bearing surface by electrostatically charging the liquid and drawing off the excess from the surface. It is stated that the charging reduces the surface tension of the liquid and depresses its surface which facilitates drawing off. As shown, a surface a is charged at 29, exposed at 30, developed at 23, 24, charged at 10 and dried at 31; the charging at 10 causing excess liquid to run off the surface a back into a reservoir 21. In Figs. 5, 6 (not shown) a corona discharge device (10) moves across an image bearing surface (11) to displace excess liquid to one edge of the surface where it is drawn off by a suction device (14) or by capillary action using a thin sheet (16).
