Abstract

1317551 Stabilizers VOSPER Ltd 26 May 1970 [27 Feb 1969] 10552/69 Heading B7M [Also in Division G3] A ship's stabilizer comprises one or more members 11 projecting from the hull and having means for ejecting water selectively from slots 18-21 to vary the lift of the member according to signals derived from a gyro-sensor 23 (Fig. 3) which operates through an electric control unit 24 on a solenoid valve 33 which controls a servomotor 35 actuating valves 26, 27 arranged to proportion the output of a pump 29 to chambers 15, 16 in members 11. The pump is fed from a forward facing inlet 28 in the hull 13. The members 11 can be arranged to control any combination of pitch, roll or yaw. The members can be retracted into the hull either teletelescopically or pivotally (Figs. 4-6, not shown).
