Abstract
1315665 Valves WADDINGTON & DUVAL (HOLDINGS) Ltd 23 June 1970 [12 Sept 1969] 45209/69 Heading F2V A plastics material tap, which can be removably fitted to a liquid container, comprises intersecting inlet and outlet ducts 12 and 16 respectively, and a valve member 26 which is disposed and movable within the outlet duct 16. The inlet duct is tapered and may be screw threaded, (Fig. 3, not shown), to facilitate insertion into, and retention within the container. By appropriately tapping the inlet duct, the need for the provision of a sealing member between the duct and the container may be obviated. The closure member is in the form of a plug having integral projecting and handle portions 30 and 34, respectively, with the projecting portion 30 being covered by a flanged shroud 26, 28 of resilient material. A helical groove 22 in the interior of the outlet duct has disposed therein a peg 24 formed on the closure member such that rotation of handle 34 causes the closure member sealing end to move relatively to its seat 32. Downstream of the seat, the outlet duct may contain flow guides (74, Fig. 3). The handle portion 34 is releasably retained so as to facilitate cleaning of the tap. A modified embodiment is depicted in Fig. 3, not shown. In either case, the body may be formed with an extended portion, 36, Fig. 1, not shown), to facilitate hammering of the valve into a container.
