Abstract
1314931 Valves L V SHERWOOD 30 March 1971 8139/71 Heading F2V A float-operated valve has a valve disc 15 freely mounted in the valve body 1 and moved relative to a seat 35 by a hollow valve stem 6 which receives in the annular groove 42 the bifurcated end 41<SP>1</SP> of a pivoted lever 41 connected to the float lever 12. The stem 6 is sealed in the body by a diaphragm 5 and has a bull-nosed plug 33 in its inner end. The outlet 11 discharges into a tubular splash guard 31. The valve disc has peripheral slots (151). The body may be lined with a nylon sleeve and the stem may be a nylon sleeve. In modifications the inner end of the stem is closed and has inlet orifices to bore 26 and the outlet 11 is in the upper side of the stem and is connected to a downturned pipe (38) discharging into an outlet pipe (11<SP>1</SP>).
