Abstract
1314622 Generators with permanent magnets INTERNATIONAL STANDARD ELECTRIC CORP 23 April 1971 [23 April 1970] 11015/71 Heading H2A A device for producing a speed indicative electrical signal comprises a toothed ferromagnetic disc 5 rotatable adjacent the polepieces 2, 3, of a permanent magnet 1 whose magnetic axis is parallel to the plane of rotation of the disc, and a pick-up coil 4 surrounding the polepieces, the turns of the coil being parallel to the magnetic axis of the magnet. The spacing between the polepieces equals the disc tooth pitch. The magnet, polepieces and coil are mounted in a non-magnetic, e.g. aluminium, casing 6, Fig. 2 (not shown), filled with cast resin. The coil may be preformed so as to slip over the polepieces during assembly or may be wound on a bobbin which is slipped over the polepieces and held thereto by magnetic attraction. The magnet may be of barium ferrite.
