Abstract

1313580 Carpet sweepers H FUKUBA 13 Oct 1970 [13 Oct 1969 18 June 1970] 48705/70 Heading A4F A carpet sweeper has a casing having a top wall portion formed integrally with at least one lower wall portion forming a dust receptacle. The illustrated carpet sweeper comprises a casing A formed by bending a sheet metal plate to form a top wall 22, front and rear walls 23, and two bottom portions forming dust receptacles 20, and fitting side frames 3, 4. A rotary brush 1 extending between the dust receptacles 20 is mounted in the side frames 3, 4. The brush 1 is driven by two sweeper supporting wheels 7, Fig. 5 (not shown) mounted in the frame 3 and engaginga wheel at one end of the brush 1, the opposite end of which has a single sweeper supporting wheel 47 mounted in coaxial bearings in the frame 4. A cover 57 on the frame 4 is openable to permit discharge of the dust in the receptacles 20. A cranked operating handle B is pivotally mounted in a groove 38 in the frame 3. Brushes 71 beneath the frame 3 assist in cleaning the carpet and also in providing for a smooth operative movement of the sweeper. The rotary brush 1 is provided with cleaning combs 9 and dust deflecting baffles 68 extend inwardly from the walls 23 over parts of the dust receptacles 20.
