Abstract
1312905 Treating with ultraviolet light CANRAD PRECISION INDUSTRIES Inc 16 Nov 1971 [15 March 1971] 53163/71 Heading A5R [Also in Division F4] A device for projecting ultraviolet light onto a small area comprises a uv source 34, a condenser 38 of quartz, a filter 32 and a light transmitting rod 28, again of quartz, the filter absorbing radiation below 3,200A, transmitting 60% of light at 3,600A and absorbing 90% of light between 5000 and 6000A. A shutter 52 controlled by an external trigger 42 may intercept light from the source. The rod 28 enables small areas inside restricted spaces to be illuminated, one use of the device being to harden protective material for teeth in situ.
