Abstract

1311958 Electroscopic toner EASTMAN KODAK CO 1 Oct 1970 [1 Oct 1969] 46810/70 Heading G2H [Also in Division C3] Toner particles comprise a polymeric organosilicon dye having repeating divalent diaminoanthraquinonylene groups. The dye may be of the formula wherein R is methyl or phenyl and Q is 1,4-or 1, 5-anthraquinonylene or 5, 8-dihydroxy-1,4-anthraquinonylene. The number of repeating units may be 4-50. The particles may be used in a liquid or dry powder developer. The required particle size (0. 5-25 micron) may be produced by grinding the solid or atomising a solution thereof in a volatile solvent. Up to 95% of a colourless resin may be present in the toner. A dry developer may contain 1-10% of toner together with a magnetic or non-magnetic carrier. Fixing may be effected by heat.
